BIOGRAPHY

Hong MEI was born in Guizhou and grew up in Guizhou. He received a Bachelor degree and a Master degree in Computer Science from Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics (NUAA) in 1984 and 1987 respectively, and a Doctorate degree in Computer Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1992.
    From 1987 to 1989, he was working at NUAA as a research assistant. In 1992, he joined in Peking University (PKU) as a post-doctoral research fellow. From 1994 to present, he was working at the Department of Computer Science and Technology and the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science in PKU, and became associate professor in 1994 and full professor in 1997. In 2005, he became a "Chang Jiang Scholars Program" professor of Ministry of Education. From 1999 to 2000, he was working at Software Production Research in Bell Labs at Naperville, IL as a visiting Scientist. He is the dean of School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, director of Institute of Software, the acting director of PKU-Bell Labs Software Technologies Joint Lab, and a vice director of Capital Development Institute in PKU.
    His current research interests include: Software Engineering and Software Engineering Environment, Software Reuse and Software Component Technology, Distributed Object Technology, Software Production Technology, and Programming Language.
    In the past years, Hone Mei was awarded many times due to his contributions to research and teaching. His main awards and honors include: Excellent Young Researcher Award from PKU, Huo Yingdong Foundation's award for Young Scientists from Ministry of Education (MOE), "Guoshi" award for Excellent Post-doctoral Researchers from the Post-doctoral Foundation of China, Special Government Bonus for Excellent Scientists from the State Ministry of Personnel (MOP), National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China from National Natural Science Foundation, National Award for Young Scientists and Engineers in China from the State Ministry of Personnel and China Association of Science and Technology, the top class award of Ministry of Electronics Industry (MEI) for Science and Technology Achievements, and the 2nd class awards of National Science and Technology Achievements from Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).
    Hong Mei is a member of the Expert Committee for Information Technology of State 863 High-Tech Program, a chief scientist of State 973 Fundamental Research Program, a consultant of Bell Labs Research China, the director of Special Interest Group of Software Engineering of China Computer Federation (CCF), a member of the Editorial Board of Sciences in China (Series F), ACTA ELECTRONICA SINICA, Chinese Journal of Electronics, Journal of Software, Journal of Computer Science and Technology, Computer Research and Development, Natural Sciences in China and International Journal of Web Services Research(JWSR), a guest professor of NUAA. He also served at various Program Committees of international conferences.
